Standing Upright In Uncertainty

July is a month of transition, a midpoint in the year where we often reflect on the first half of the year and look ahead to what’s to come. This year it feels like the ground beneath us is constantly shifting. In times of uncertainty, how do we stand upright and maintain our integrity? For many, the answer lies in mindfulness practices.

Mindfulness is more than just a buzzword; it’s a powerful tool that helps us anchor ourselves. By focusing on the here and now, we can navigate the turbulence around us with a clear mind and steady heart. Whether it’s through meditation, deep breathing, or simply being present in our daily activities, mindfulness allows us to reconnect with our values and beliefs, ensuring that we act with integrity even when circumstances are uncertain.

Engaging with creative practices is grounding for me, especially getting playful with watercolor painting. There’s something soothing about the way the colors flow and blend on the paper. This practice offers me a way of staying in my body.

We all have different ways of finding our groundedness. For some, it might be through physical activities like hiking or running. For others, it could be through journaling, gardening, or spending time in nature. The key is to find a practice and carve out time to engage it, especially in times of uncertainty.

Take a moment and consider what a grounding practice might be for you. What activity brings you peace and helps you feel centered? How can you incorporate it into your daily routine, no matter how shaky the ground beneath you feels?

Be well in this ol’ world, dear ones!

Stephanie
